About Me

Hi, I’m Zoey Wang

A Journalism and Finance student at the University of Hong Kong.

I’ve always been drawn to movement — new cities, new landscapes, new ways of living. Over the past few years, I’ve travelled widely and developed a love for diving, freediving and trying extreme sports like skydiving. These experiences constantly reshape the way I see the world: wide-angled, curious, and calm under pressure. They also influence how I tell stories, always paying attention to how people navigate their environments.

My Background

Alongside journalism, I’ve gained experience across different areas of finance, from investment-related roles to research and audit. These experiences taught me how to analyze information clearly, understand systems behind everyday life, and balance quantitative thinking with human-focused storytelling. This mix of journalism and finance shaped the way I approach narratives — structured, attentive to detail, and grounded in real-world contexts.

My Approach to Storytelling

I focus on stories about urban life, youth culture and social change, especially how people adapt to the city’s rhythms and pressures.

Across features, explainers and multimedia pieces, I aim to create work that is:

  • Clear and structured
  • Human and grounded
  • Visually intuitive
  • Connected to everyday experiences

I enjoy using tools like maps, multimedia elements and Google Earth Studio to highlight patterns that aren’t immediately visible through text alone.

Creative Portfolio (2025)

This semester’s portfolio explores one core idea:

How Hong Kong moves — through crowds, storms, public action and changing work cultures.

Each piece experiments with a different approach:
